Towards a Greener Future

65,000 plants were voluntarily purchased by community members while 35,000 plants were donated by Nurseries owners established by SRSP under WFP funded CFW project, in tehsil Bara, Khyber Agency. The purpose of the campaign was to make the environment clean by planting more trees and to fight the global climate changes. Besides communities Political Agent Khyber, Assistant Political Agent Tehsil Bara, Divisional Forest Officer FATA, Program Coordinator WFP, Agency Planning Officer and SRSP Staff participated in the campaign.
The interventions of WFP under Cash-For-Work project started reviving the livelihoods of the Bara locals. The Project provided the initial ignition to the economy of Tehsil Bara. During the period, WFP has disbursed an amount of more than PKR 840 million/- to the community. The project has enabled the community to clear 900 irrigation channels (1000 Km long).

Three days training on Pakistan Approach to Total Sanitation PATS

Three days training on Pakistan Approach to Total Sanitation (PATS) was organized for 30 elected members (18 male and 12 female) in District Buner under WASH PATs plus project. The objective of the training was to orient the participants on WASH policy framework at district level, provide low cost solutions regarding sanitation and water safety and to elaborate their role in open defecation free (ODF) declaration, verification, certification and sustainability check. Furthermore, their knowledge was enhanced on gender mainstreaming, equity, disaster risk reduction, climate change and environmental protection. The training was organized by SRSP in collaboration with Government of KPK and funded by UNICEF.

World Food Programme Visit to SRSP FATA Projects

WFP Delegation visited Pakistan to oversee development programs financed by World Food Programme (WFP) in KP and FATA. The delegation first visited Bara, Khyber Agency where SRSP is implementing (Cash for Work) project. The delegation met with community activists. They also visited community established Nursery, orchard and kitchen garden. Important stakeholders included Executive Director - WFP, Regional Director, Bangkok, Chairperson BISP, Country Director – WFP Pakistan, Deputy Country Director – WFP Pakistan, Political Agent Khyber Agency, Directorate of Agriculture FATA, and SRSP management. 







Microhydro Projects in District Shangla

SRSP has completed Two micro hydro power projects under European Union funded PEACE Programme in union council Alpuri of District Shangla.  These power houses benefit more than 370 households in both villages of Bar Kalay and Kuz Kalay. Besides the local communities the inaugural ceremony was attended by Commissioner Malakand Division. The Total cost of the project is PKR: 5,416,506 in which EU share is PKR: 4,849,322 and community share is PKR: 567,182.
