Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) with financial support of the Government of Australia (DFAT) established 18 Adult Literacy Centers (ALCs) in three districts of KP that is, Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera. So far, 360 rural women have been enrolled in the centers. These centers offers certified course in basic literacy, numeracy, and functional skills to women of the age 15 to 55. The centers are run and managed by women community organisations. 18 local women have been trained as teachers.
Mr. Shoaib Sultan Khan, the founder of RSP movement in Pakistan, visited Local Support Organizations (LSOs) in Nowshera and Charsadda Districts and met Community Investment Funds members, Entrepreneurs and Value Chain members. He described what he saw as an excellent example of women empowerment and poverty alleviation. He was accompanied by Chairperson SRSP Mrs Munawar Humayun Khan and CEO SRSP Masood Ul Mulk along with others.
