Skills training workshop for the youth of Kurram, Khyber, North & South Waziristan and Orakzai Agency

Skills training workshop for the youth of Kurram, Khyber, North & South Waziristan and Orakzai Agency are under way at SRSP-Technical & Vocational Center, Peshawar. 60 youth are engaged in skills training courses on Solar Panel Installation and Cell Phone Repair. The courses are selected on the basis of market demand. On successful completion, a startup kit will be given to each trainee for initiation of small-scale economic activity at the local agency. These training are organized under a four years project funded by the Government of Germany and financed by KfW to support Reintegration and Rehabilitation for Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) in FATA

He said the government was keen to learn from SRSP's development experience and develop synergies among development programmes 

Finance Minister KP & UNDP representative inaugurates Vocational Training

The representatives of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government and UNDP stressed the need for adopting innovative ways to address the issues of unemployment and lack of livelihood opportunities in the merged districts. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister of Finance and Planning Taimur Jhagra and resident representative of UNDP Ignacio Artaza were speaking at a ceremony to inaugurate vocational training for 500 youth from the merged districts of Khyber, North and South Waziristan. The train ing is being organized at the Human Resource Centre of the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) in Hayatabad. The six-month training is being funded by the USAID through UNDP in a project being implemented by the SRSP in the three districts. The youth are being imparted training in different trades including solar panel, auto mechanic, motorcycle, refrigeration and air-condition repairing. The trainings are certified by the City and Guild London.
