Connecting People through sports at Orakzai Agency

You can see all these people celebrating through “balbala” (a traditional dance); Its been years since we have danced to this music. I pray that these smiles prevail on the faces of the young men through activities like this.” Said Aashiq Ali, A volleyball team representative.

18 tribes of Orkzai agency were united through a volleyball tournament in which 8 volleyball teams participated. The event was aimed to share Orakzai Agency’s favorite pastime, Volleyball, with the crisis affected and marginalized communities. This was the first time in past two decades that not a single tribe or sect was excluded from a public event.

Providing an opportunity for social cohesion and peace building, SRSP has organized the event under the project “Supporting Returnees and their Communities in FATA” funded by UNDP
