1.2 Megawatts Ashuran Power Station Inaugurated In Kalam

The 1.2 megawatts Ashuran power house established in Kalam area of Swat with the cooperation of European Union was inaugurated on Wednesday.The project set up by Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) was inaugurated by the EU envoy. The SRSP said about 3,000 families will benefit from the power station.The local people have expressed happiness over the completion of power house and said it will resolve the problem of load-shedding.The opening ceremony was also attended by provincial minister Mehmood Khan, Member KP Assembly Syed Jaffar Shah, District Nazim Muhammad Ali Shah and local notables.

Finance Minister KP & UNDP representative inaugurates Vocational Training

The representatives of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government and UNDP stressed the need for adopting innovative ways to address the issues of unemployment and lack of livelihood opportunities in the merged districts. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister of Finance and Planning Taimur Jhagra and resident representative of UNDP Ignacio Artaza were speaking at a ceremony to inaugurate vocational training for 500 youth from the merged districts of Khyber, North and South Waziristan. The train ing is being organized at the Human Resource Centre of the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) in Hayatabad. The six-month training is being funded by the USAID through UNDP in a project being implemented by the SRSP in the three districts. The youth are being imparted training in different trades including solar panel, auto mechanic, motorcycle, refrigeration and air-condition repairing. The trainings are certified by the City and Guild London.

Renovation and Upgradation of Basic Health Unit

SRSP with the financial assistance of PATRIP Foundation has renovated and expanded 6 Basic Health Units (BHUs) at the Pak-Afghan border region in district Kurram. Recently, Solar Energy Systems have been installed in these 6 BHUs, which are facilitating around 5,600 patients every month.

Take A Child to School

In District Haripur Union Council Pind Kamal Khan Volunteers (Youth) received rewards for the enrollment of out of school children in the Government Primary schools under “Take a Child to School” (TACS) project. British Council verified the enrollment done by the volunteers through third party. SRSP identified these youth volunteers through LSOs, and Local Communities and built their capacities through capacity building training. These volunteers identified out of schools chi ldren through Household survey and conducted awareness session on Article 25-A with parents and local communities and enrolled the identified out of schools children in Govt. Primary Schools, At the end the cheques were distributed among the volunteers against verified enrollment in the event. The is funded by British Council and implemented by SRSP
