Women took lead in Business.

SRSP is increasingly taking up value chains approach to help poor access markets and improve their economic conditions. Very recently, an event was organized in district Charsadda under the Government of Australia funded “WEEMD” project to strengthen the fresh milk production value chain. The event was organized to inaugurate a dairy hub for 36 women and men producers. A milk chiller has been installed at the hub, which also has adequately trained Livestock extension worker, hired by women community organizations. This initiative is resulting in the collection and supply of 700 liters of fresh milk to the market every day. It is bringing profits for the low-income producers. The women community organizations foresee engagement of more women producers with the passage of time..

Three days training on Pakistan Approach to Total Sanitation PATS

Three days training on Pakistan Approach to Total Sanitation (PATS) was organized for 30 elected members (18 male and 12 female) in District Buner under WASH PATs plus project. The objective of the training was to orient the participants on WASH policy framework at district level, provide low cost solutions regarding sanitation and water safety and to elaborate their role in open defecation free (ODF) declaration, verification, certification and sustainability check. Furthermore, their knowledge was enhanced on gender mainstreaming, equity, disaster risk reduction, climate change and environmental protection. The training was organized by SRSP in collaboration with Government of KPK and funded by UNICEF.

Microhydro Projects in District Shangla

SRSP has completed Two micro hydro power projects under European Union funded PEACE Programme in union council Alpuri of District Shangla.  These power houses benefit more than 370 households in both villages of Bar Kalay and Kuz Kalay. Besides the local communities the inaugural ceremony was attended by Commissioner Malakand Division. The Total cost of the project is PKR: 5,416,506 in which EU share is PKR: 4,849,322 and community share is PKR: 567,182.

Prefabricated schools in Khyber Agency FATA

The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA, Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, and Ambassadors for European Union in Pakistan, Jean –Francois Cautain, inaugurated Pre-Fabricated School building at Government High School Hisara, enrolling 448 boys, in Khyber Agency under “Support to Returnees and Their Communities in FATA” Project. The delegates also visited GGPS Kalanga, which has an enrollment of 538 students. 
The project will improve 450 schools that will benefit 45,000 children in 4 agencies of FATA.
.Beside the local communities the event was attended by Additional Chief Secretary FATA, Country Director UNDP, Deputy Country Representative UNICEF, DG Directorate of Projects FATA, Secretary Education FATA, Education Directorate FATA, Political Administration Khyber Agency, and SRSP’s BoD and management.
