SRSP Improving Infrastructure in Khyber Agency

Around 7,000 people will get benefit from 7 community built infrastructure schemes includes five drinking water supply schemes (tubewell), one each irrigation channel and protection wall worth 12,756,112 PKR. Cheques were distributed among community representatives in Khyber Agency. Political Agent, community representatives, agency officials and SRSP were present on the occasion of cheque distribution. The event was organized under a four years project funded by the Government of Germany and financed by KFW to support Reintegration and Rehabilitation for Temporarily Displaced Persons ( TDPs ) in FATA. The project is being implemented by SRSP with the support of FATA Secretariat. The project area is South Waziristan Agency, North Waziristan Agency, Orakzai Agency, Khyber Agency and Kurram Agency. The project has already been initiated recently in South Waziristan and Orakzai agencies.

Skills enhancement training in electrician and sanitary fitting courses

50 young people, between 18 to 30 years of age, receive skills enhancement training in electrician and sanitary fitting courses. The group was selected from District Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera. The training was organized at SRSP’s Technical & Vocational Center in Peshawar, which offered a certified course from City & Guilds UK. Their team conducted post-training evaluation and certificates were distributed among the best performances. The initiative is funded by the Government of Australia under Women Economic Empowerment and Market Development (WEEMD) project.

Three days training on Pakistan Approach to Total Sanitation PATS

Three days training on Pakistan Approach to Total Sanitation (PATS) was organized for 30 elected members (18 male and 12 female) in District Buner under WASH PATs plus project. The objective of the training was to orient the participants on WASH policy framework at district level, provide low cost solutions regarding sanitation and water safety and to elaborate their role in open defecation free (ODF) declaration, verification, certification and sustainability check. Furthermore, their knowledge was enhanced on gender mainstreaming, equity, disaster risk reduction, climate change and environmental protection. The training was organized by SRSP in collaboration with Government of KPK and funded by UNICEF.

Microhydro Projects in District Shangla

SRSP has completed Two micro hydro power projects under European Union funded PEACE Programme in union council Alpuri of District Shangla.  These power houses benefit more than 370 households in both villages of Bar Kalay and Kuz Kalay. Besides the local communities the inaugural ceremony was attended by Commissioner Malakand Division. The Total cost of the project is PKR: 5,416,506 in which EU share is PKR: 4,849,322 and community share is PKR: 567,182.
